The president-elect of UCLG, Parks Tau, the former mayor of Johannesburg had a short interview with the Secretary General of GSEF Laurence Kwark on October 15th at the 5th UCLG Congress. 

Mr. Tau talked about the role of UCLG in improving cooperation between local governments as well as achieving economic democracy.

Mr Tau also emphasized the crucial mission of UCLG in building the network with civil society, private enterprises and governments.

Furthermore, I have assured that local governments' responsibility in providing adequate public services to their citizens.
