5th UCLG Congress World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders Outcomes

12-15 October, Bogota, Colombia

The 5 th  UCLG Congress, Which is the largest overall conference of local / regional Governments and stakeholders, held in Bogota from 12 to 15 October under the theme 'Local voices for a better world'. The conference highlighted the critical role of local and regional governments that are operating alongside the lives of citizens in establishing inclusive, community centered, and environment friendly urban development. As the outcome of consultation and discussion Between EXTENSIVE UCLG member cities THROUGHOUT the congress,  Bogota Commitment and Action Agenda  was officially Declared on the 15 th  of October. GSEF, with representatives from city and regional governments, including elected officials closely consulted in establishing a social and solidarity economy working group within the UCLG organizational structure. And GSEF deeply congratulates on the new presidency of UCLG, Mpho Parks Tau who is the President of the South African Association of Local Governments (SALGA) and Councilor of Johannesburg as well. The president of UCLG, Parks Tau, gave a message on how to achieve economic democracy in order to improve the current economic system.
