GSEF Webinar Series
In the lead-up to the GSEF2021 Mexico City forum, GSEF is organizing a series of webinars throughout 2020 in collaboration with GSEF2021’s Local Organizing Committee.
For the first two rounds of the GSEF Webinar Series, webinars in English, French, and Spanish have gathered over 2500 participants around discussions focused on the themes 'Challenges and Strategies of SSE in Times of COVID-19' and 'Recovery and Development of Decent Jobs'. Representatives from local governments, SSE actors, and experts from international organizations shared their initiatives and experiences towards supporting the SSE sector and alleviating the socio-economic impact of the crisis on communities through SSE, particularly in terms of job creation and preservation.
The third round on the topic 'Power of Community: SSE and Financial Systems to Fight against the COVID-19 Crisis' is currently ongoing. The Spanish and English session will be held on 14 July and 21 July respectively.

SSE International Forum transforms its biennial conference and invites you to the Virtual Mont-Blanc Meetings. A series of webinars will take place every Thursday in September and on October 1st, 2020 on the theme of 'Resources of the Social and Solidarity Economy in a Context of Global Mutation'. |

On 23 June, GSEF participated in a webinar co-organized by the National Institute of Social Economy of Mexico (INAES). She shared experiences and insights about the challenges and strategies of local governments and SSE actors in the context of the COVID-19 crisis, including initiatives from GSEF members and partners collected through the GSEF webinar sessions since May. This webinar was part of a series of 6 virtual events organized under the theme 'Strategic Discussions: Co-create a New Social and Economic Model for our Society' aimed at promoting the Social and Solidarity Economy among Members of Parliament in Mexico. |
UPDATES ON LEGAL FRAMEWORKS FOR SSE

As the result of an important and relentless mobilization from actors on the ground, the law on Social and Solidarity Economy was adopted by the Tunisian Assembly of the Representatives of the People on 17 June! Consult the full text of the Law (in French) via the link below. Implementation decrees will be adopted soon. |
For a long time, Japan has not had any law on social cooperatives, social enterprises, or social and solidarity economy. The Japan Workers’ Cooperative Union (JWCU), member of GSEF, has promoted the movement for legislation since around 2000, together with the Workers’ Collective Network of Japan (WNJ), with the objective of enacting a law on worker cooperatives. On 12th June 2020, the draft of 'Worker Cooperatives Act' was submitted to the House of Representatives with support of all political parties and all factions. |

GSEF member Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) relentlessly continued their efforts to respond to COVID-19 in the best way possible. After reaching out to over 2400 people with food support in the first phase, JCYCN provided 21 local institutions and health facilities in 16 municipalities of nine districts with health-related materials that are vital to avoid potential infections with COVID 19. |
The United Nations Inter-agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) will organize a virtual event on the theme 'What role for the Social and Solidarity Economy in the post COVID-19 crisis recovery?' on 10 July 2020 between 15:30 and 17:00 (CEST).
