About the SSE Youth Hub

Since its creation in 2013, the GSEF has always recognized the importance of mobilizing young people in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE). Through international events, impactful advocacy and structured continental dynamics, the GSEF highlights the central role of young people in social, economic and environmental transitions.

The GSEF SSE Youth Hub is an international space of convergence that mobilizes, connects and promotes young people around the world around the Social and Solidarity Economy, to make it a lever for social, ecological and democratic transformation.

A look back at the history of the SSE Youth Hub

At the GSEF2023 General Assembly in Dakar, the creation of the SSE Youth Hub was voted to recognize young people as central players in the scaling-up of the SSE. The hub focuses on three main areas:

  • Raising awareness: Promoting SSE values among young people.
  • Advocacy: Promoting their role as actors in just transitions.
  • Support: Providing support for young people's projects via platforms, incubators and cooperatives.

Continental co-pilots

The SSE Youth Hub is based on a decentralized approach with five complementary continental dynamics, led by continental co-pilots with regular meetings.

  • Africa: ABEWE (Ivory Coast)
  • North America: the Aile Jeunesse of Chantier de l'Économie Sociale (Quebec)
  • Latin America and the Caribbean: INAES, National Institute of Social Economy (Mexico)
  • Asia: Seoul Youth Hub (South Korea)
  • Europe: Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region (France)
