MaricáGSEF2027: Call for Contributions Now Open!

Would you like to share an initiative, an experience or research in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE)? Help shape the programme of MaricáGSEF2027, the 8th GSEF Global Social and Solidarity Economy Forum, taking place from 9 to 12 October 2027 in Maricá, Brazil.

The City of Maricá and the GSEF are pleased to announce the opening of the call for contributions for MaricáGSEF2027, under the theme:

The Social, Solidarity, and Popular Economy: An economy belonging to families and communities, rooted in local knowledge and caring for nature.

The call is open to all SSE actors: civil society organizations, cooperatives, social enterprises, local governments, national governments, researchers, universities and committed practitioners.

The aim is to collectively develop an international programme that showcases concrete initiatives, public policies, local knowledge and grassroots experiences contributing to lasting social, economic and environmental transformations.

Ten Thematic Areas to Shape the Programme

Contributions may address one of the following ten thematic areas:

1. Poverty Eradication
2. Food Security and Sovereignty
3. Lasting Peace
4. Solidarity-Based, Ethical and Local Finance
5. Public Policies Supporting the Social and Solidarity Economy
6. Youth
7. Protecting Biodiversity and Fighting Climate Change
8. Traditional and Ancestral Knowledge
9. Artificial Intelligence and Other New Technologies
10. Research and the Generation of Evidence

Gender equity will be a cross-cutting theme for all contributions.

Several contribution formats are welcome: roundtables, participatory workshops, self-managed sessions, posters, videos, case studies and scientific articles.

Proposals may be submitted in French, English, Spanish or Portuguese.

How to Contribute

The call for contributions is open until 6 January 2027.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Forum's Scientific Committee, in collaboration with its academic and institutional partners. Applicants will be notified of the results by the end of February 2027.

From Bordeaux to Maricá: A Global Movement for the SSE

Following Seoul, Montreal, Bilbao, Mexico City, Dakar and Bordeaux, Maricá will host the next GSEF Global Forum.
