    GSEF Global Virtual Forum

    GSEF and GSEF2021 Mexico Local Organizing Committee (LOC) present the GSEF Global Virtual Forum October 2020 with the central theme 'Great Challenges, Greater Solidarity: Power of Community and SSE as a Path for Transformation', which will take place from 19th to 23rd October 2020.

    Our week-long forum will be organized around:

    • 5 Plenaries with simultaneous translation in English, French, and Spanish;
    • 10Thematic sessions on youth, women, local governments, civil society, researchers, and indigenous communities;
    • 11 Sessions proposed and organized by our members and partner organizations
    • 6 Special sessions composed of individual initiatives under various subjects related to the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE)

    GSEF Secretariat, in collaboration with Local Organizing Committee of GSEF2021(Mexico City), calls everybody to join the global exchange about the Social and Solidarity Economy through video.

     

    The deadline is now extended till 12 October.

     
             
       

    We are looking for following experiences:

     

    1) Solidarity initiatives

    Talk about your experience being part of a group of people, especially young people, as agents of change that organizes in order to solve any necessity or problem that you face in your community

     

    2) SSE actions

    Share with us the way your organization encourages actions, strategies or simply promote the principles, values and practices of the SSE and if your organization gives specific supports to youth initiatives

     

    3) Living the SSE

    Tell us about your experience. What benefits has the SSE brought to your life? How was being part of a mutuality, worker cooperative, solidarity and community enterprise, youth network or other SSE organizations and enterprises, beneficiated you and/or your community?

    Launch of a Social and Solidarity Economy Reference Panel for the Liverpool City Region

     


    GSEF's participation at UNOSD Webinar

     


    A new expert advisory panel of leaders from community and socially trading organizations across the Liverpool City Region has been launched last month. The Social and Solidarity Economy Reference Panel will advise Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and Combined Authority policymakers on how to maximize the contribution of the burgeoning social sector as the city region economy recovers from the effects of Covid-19. Learn more about the 18 inspiring leaders tasked with helping to boost the community and social sector as part of the Liverpool City Region’s economic recovery plan in response to the Covid-19 crisis.

    On 17 September, Laurence Kwark, Secretary General of GSEF, participated in the first meeting of the 2020 International Mayors Forum Preparatory Webinar Series organized by the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD). She shared her insights into how Social and Solidarity Economy can accelerate decent work and economic growth for urban recovery in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
