    Announcement of GSEF2020 postponement
    GSEF announces the postponement of the 5th Global Social Economy Forum in Mexico City, given the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic spread to all over the world and its social & economic impacts. Originally planned for October 21-23, 2020, it will be held in 2021. GSEF is monitoring the current situation with the Local Organizing Committee of GSEF2021 in Mexico and the Steering Committee of GSEF, in order to decide soon on the exact dates of the GSEF2021 Forum in Mexico.     In collaboration with the GSEF2021 Local Organizing Committee, GSEF is launching its 1st round of online webinars on the topic of Challenges and Strategies of Social & Solidarity Economy (SSE) in Times of COVID-19 Crisis.  GSEF members and key partners are invited to share their experiences and initiatives. Three webinars around this theme will take place respectively in French, Spanish, and English between May and June 2020.

    4th WeGO Awards Deadline Extended

    Apply by July 31 to receive recognition as a city striving towards sustainability and citizen well- being with exemplary projects and solutions that use ICT to help improve the quality of life of citizens.   
    The UN Inter-Agency Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy (UNTFSSE) has set up a web page to share information on how SSE actors in the world provide Covid-19 response to mitigate the negative impacts to our society and economy. It can help you to understand how SSE actors can fill the gaps of economic and social systems.

    UCLG, Metropolis and UN-Habitat have launched a live learning experience with local and regional governments to address the issues of local economic and social development in the midst of COVID-19 outbreak. You may find all past sessions and information in their website to understand how local governments are working to carry out an affordable and fair service delivery, fostering the preservation of the commons, and promoting human rights. The upcoming session will take place on 20th May.

    The OECD and the European Union (EU) have jointly launched a Global Action to promote the social and solidarity economy (SSE) over the next 3 years.  During the project, peer-learning partnerships will be developed to exchange knowledge and experiences on the SSE and social entrepreneurship. By the end of the project in 2022,  two international guides on legal frameworks for the SSE and on social impact measurement for the SSE will be published. The project targets the EU, Brazil, Canada, Korea, Mexico, India, and the U.S.
    An open letter, signed by over a hundred Tunisian SSE stakeholders, has been submitted to the highest authorities of the country. This call for action urges local governments, the private sector, social partners, and committed citizens to mobilize for a transition marked by solidarity, democracy, ecological principles, and civic engagement towards building a post COVID-19 Tunisia aiming at the common good.
