Summary

Traditional approaches to growth and regeneration have failed to benefit all parts of society, and we want to turn the tide of rising inequality using the assets of places and communities. This conference will present a new way of working that stimulates urban growth and regeneration through movement-based social innovation.

The City transformation Amplify programs powered by the Michael Young Foundation in the UK are bespoke in order to address the cultural dimension of each context, and built and designed with the people who know the place best. They normally draw on ethnographic research led by local people, community engagement, partnership and movement building, capacity building through bespoke workshops for entrepreneurs, activists and businesses, and development of capacity and resilience in communities to discover, develop, implement, and scale community-driven innovations. This conference will also present the details of Amplifier Montreal initiative.
