UNTFSSE Geneva meeting8th Feb, 2016
GSEF SG Laurence Kwark attended UNTFSSE Geneva meeting to strengthen the close tie between the GSEF and the TF. GSEF will be working closely with the UNTFSSE for the joint efforts of fostering the social economy globally. During the meeting UNRISD introduced its SSE joint research programme between UN agenices / OECD / observers of UNTFSSE which positively reviewed by the representatives of each organisation. Other organisations that are closely involved in the TF, also shared their 2016 SE activities.

UNRISD Pascal Van Griethuysen meeting18th Feb
Research Coordinator of UNRISD (UN Research Institute of Social Development) had a meeting with the Vice Mayor of Seoul attended with GSEF SG Laurence Kwark and chairman of GSEF, Rev. Song. UNRISD introduced UNTFSSE’s new research consortium projects on mapping innovative social economy status in each country and local government, and discussed cooperation opportunity between Seoul and UNRISD.
AVPN Meeting with the GSEF22nd Feb
Andrew and Patricia from AVPN visited Korea and had a meeting with GSEF team to strengthen the partnership between the two organisations. Two organisations discussed about the upcoming Asia Policy Dialogue (APD) which will be jointly hosted by AVPN, GSEF and other distinguished partners.
Seoul International Organisation Conference23rd Feb
As a continuation of the talk between IOs initiated by the City of Seoul such as GSEF, WeGO, CityNet, ICLEI which were held on the 19th Feb, the second conference was held on the 23rd by inviting more than 20 Seoul based IOs including World Bank Seoul Office, UNDP Policy Center and UNPOG. Representatives from the IOs presented their 2016 project plans and had a networking opportunity with the participants from different organisations.
GSEF new team manager2nd March
GSEF new team manager Jin Kyoung Choi will be joining the GSEF secretariat. She will be responsible for the GSEF project team from this March. Jin Kyoung has an extensive experience in improving the quality of life in disadvantaged areas in developing countries. Prior to joining the GSEF, she served as a director of ‘Cooperation and Participation in Overseas’ in Mongol office where she directed various projects such as running child care centres / education programmes in backward regions. She also gained experience at Global Overseas Adoptees Link/G.O.A.L and ECEF.
