Local governments play an essential role in creating ecosystems conducive to a greener, more inclusive, and sustainable economy through a new architecture that allows, together with communities, to respond to current crises, in order to ensure equal opportunities and the protection of the environment, to promote access to decent work, and to stimulate local economies. Likewise, stakeholders from the private, social, and academic sectors are also key actors for the achievement of these goals and, through their practices, they determine the new post-pandemic paths aimed at strengthening Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) through collaboration with governments.

Organized by GSEF in partnership with the Mexico City Government and the National Institute of Social Economy (INAES) of Mexico, the GSEF2021 Mexico City Forum was held in a hybrid format from 4-8 October 2021.

The report Pathways and Challenges to Enhance the SSE is a recap of the mosaic of ideas from different latitudes and contexts regarding the actions and strategies that citizens, groups, companies, and local and national governments can implement to achieve a better and more inclusive world, and what key actions should be launched from the local level. It is available in English, French, and Spanish.
