Summary:

The case of France and the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France deals specifically with the institutional recognition of SSE. Nouvelle-Aquitaine is one of the largest districts in France that represents a diverse area, including ten urban areas like Bordeaux and contains a wide variety of economic activities such as mixing industry, agriculture, vine growing and tourism. The following presentation touches briefly on the closed concept of the "third sector" in the 70s, and the presentation raises the problem that legitimizing SSE might repeat this phenomenon, especially in the sense that legitimizing SSE would send it back to its marginality. Therefore, the presentation underscores the concept that SSE should be placed at the centre of public policies to prevent SSE from becoming, once more, a marginalized subject.
