GSEF initially started from the GSEF 2013 forum which was held under the theme “New discovery of Collaboration.” Eight leading local governments, nine social economy organizations and around 130 domestic and international organizations gathered together to share their vision and experience in social economy.

Representatives from local governments and social economy organizations around the world agreed on the necessity of invigorating social economy and international solidarity to tackle the challenges we are facing and adopted the Seoul Declaration which contains 10 action plans.

Primary Purpose

  1. Urban innovation model, also known as “Seoul Model,” includes the ideas of social economy development strategy initiated by a local government, was proclaimed and discussed within the framework of developing social economy knowledge among the invited cities and private organizations.
  2. Promoting and strengthening a political and economic relationship between local governments and private organizations across the world.
  3. Encouraging the establishment of international social economy consultative institutions with farsightedness.

  1. Opening ceremony keynote and case study, 26 sessions in different categories.
  2. Adoption of the Seoul Declaration and roundtable discussions.
  3. Side events (social economy exhibitions, on-site visit, networking party etc.).
