Jagriti Child and Youth Concern Nepal (JCYCN) is a non-governmental, non- political and non-profit making social organization established by dedicated youths for the protection and promotion of child and youth rights in Nepal through advocacy, research and campaign. It was registered in the District Administration Office (DAO) Nawalparasi on October 3rd of 2004 and affiliated to the Social Welfare Council (SWC) in Kathmandu.

Vision
To build a model society in which every youth and child lives a dignified life without any form of discrimination, exploitation and injustice, and in which they are fully conscious about their rights.

Mission
Including all forms of creative ideas through different campaigns, advocacy and projects, JCYCN mission is to internalize child and youth sensitization for protection and promotion of their rights, focusing on their empowerment and involvement in social programs to bring lasting peace and prosperity in Nepal.

Goal 
Contribute towards the development of a fair and just society by strengthening the capacity of the community members, promoting social justice, securing human rights and establishing lasting peace.

Objectives

  • To promote national and international youth and child rights movement to eliminate all types of injustice through advocacy, lobbing, social mobilization and by organizing training workshops and alliance building programs.

  • To focus specific on girls rights’ campaigns and programs to promote their empowerment and inclusion.

  • To emphasize on the promotion of human rights conservation and monitoring especially through the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) program, and child and youth participation on peace building.

  • To promote and empower Child and Youth Clubs by enhancing their capacity to play a positive role in society.

  • To support and advocate for Child Friendly Local Governance (CFLG).

  • To empower marginalized children and youth by raising their awareness on relevant topics as HIV/AIDS, child trafficking and sexual abuse; by supporting quality education; by assisting them with life skills training; and by launching income generating programs.

  • To promote and support safe and dignified migration among youth.

  • To create pressure on the government for the implementation of the commitments made for the rights of children and youths.

Major Activities
Since its establishment, JCYCN has been working on the principles of value and right based approach. Following are the regular programs of JCYCN:

  • Promotion and Protection of Human Rights, including support to the Universal Periodic Review (UPR)

  • Promotion and Protection of Girls’ Rights and concerns

  • Promotion of Child Friendly Local Governance (CFLG)

  • Promotion of Quality Education and Child Friendly Schools

  • Promotion of Youth Safe and Dignified Migration

  • Humanitarian Support for the Affected of Disaster and Conflict

  • Networking (Local to National and International levels)
